We had a good day today.  Mostly hung out at the compound.  We were supposed to go to the Hope Children’s School at noon, but our ride didn’t show until 2 pm (everyone stayed patient though).  We did finally get out there.  It’s a school with three classes (a 5 year old, 6 year old, and 7 year old) of the poorest of poor kids.  They teach the kids to read (mostly using Scripture), write, and do math so that when they start primary school they won’t be behind the kids who could afford to go to preschool.  This helps keep the poor kids off of the streets.  Beautiful kids - wanted to bring them all home!

We then went and visited Gladys and the little slum that she lives in.  We played with her and the other children around there for a while.  The good news is that the medical treatments she’s on are starting to work.  Her brain is just like that of a we month old again so she’ll have to re-learn everything.  She still has to be tied up because her mother has to leave her to work.  Pretty sad…
The teams doing well.  We’re pretty spoiled here.  They not only feed you three times a day, but they also have a mid-morning “tea/coffee time!”. I guess we’ll take it while we can get it; Sudan’s not going to be nearly as kind to us.
I love you lots!

Finally got a good night of sleep in (about 9 hours); hopefully my body will be on Africa time now.  Not sleeping for more than 1 hour at a time for over 50 hours is a bit hard on the body!  I think I understand a little of what Paul meant when he added “in sleplessness” to his list of trials while serving the Lord.
It’s a beautiful morning here - very cool (probably around 55-60 degrees as the sun’s rising).  Nairobi’s up pretty high (about 5500 ft).  It’s very near Mt Kilamonjaro and Lake Victoria; lot’s of wildlife refuges all around the area too.  Yesterday we saw a bunch of baboons on the way to church.

Today we’re resting up in the AM and then will be heading out to the Hope Children’s School in the afternoon.  I’ll write and tell you about it this evening.
Everyone’s doing well.  Attitudes are very good (probably even better now that we’ve gotten some sleep).  Rod and I are rooming together.  I think that the Lord’s really ministering to him already; he even beat me up to pray as the sun was rising!  John Lambert’s got his “green clothes” on - complete with tucked in shirt and pants pulled up to his chest.  He may be a Gettemy yet!  Randy and Sandy are matching and cute as ever!
I’m glad to hear that services went well yesterday.  With all my love,

Daniel
